Easter Family Activities

Join us this Easter at Berwick Museum & Art Gallery and Paxton House for a selection of fun-filled family activites.
These hour-long workshops are designed to be fun, hands-on sessions aimed at people aged 7+ (no upper age limit!). We encourage all family members to come along and engage with the inspirational local stories of civil engineering, botanical painting, or water-themed music. Parental collaboration is required!
Our workshops at Berwick Museum & Art Gallery are completely free however normal admission prices into the venue still apply. Workshops at Paxton are bookable directly with Paxton House and do include a small charge to cover their costs as well as the usual admission price.

Brilliant Bridges @Berwick Museum & Art Gallery
This workshop challenges your family’s engineering skills! Design and make your own bridge model using colourful craft materials and repair our Lego model of the Union Chain Bridge.

Cacao Chemistry @Berwick Museum & Art Gallery
Become a welding expert with our Cacao Chemistry workshop! In this session, we weld and test chocolate shapes to investigate the ultimate strength of chocolate.

Get creative with watercolours and discover the wonderful world of botanical painting including local hero Margaret Dickinson.

Building Investigation Workshop @Paxton House
Get involved in an exciting session of bridge & boat building! Explore and get creative through exercises and investigating.

Water Music @Paxton House
Explore how music has been shaped by water. Come along to learn how other people have used rivers and oceans to be creative and perhaps be inspired yourself. Be prepared to make sound, to move and to listen. No equipment or prior knowledge required, but if you play a musical instrument do bring it along.

Stargazing @Paxton House *weather dependent*
Come along to Paxton House at nightfall and view the sky. If it is clear, we will join up the constellations, learn how to navigate using the North star, and view the Moon through binoculars.
Please note: in the case of wet or cloudy weather, we will not be able to stargaze outside. Instead, we will simulate the sky indoors using computer software.
